Welcome to Milky Way Calendars, a service by Capture the Atlas. By purchasing credits, generating a custom Milky Way calendar, accessing your account, or using this website, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
Please read them carefully before making a purchase.
1. Service overview
Milky Way Calendars provides custom digital calendars designed to help photographers plan Milky Way photography sessions for a specific location and year.
Each custom calendar is generated using the information provided by the user, including:
- Location name
- Exact coordinates
- Selected year
The calendar includes data such as moon illumination, moonrise and moonset, sunset and sunrise times, Milky Way visibility, Galactic Center visibility, and the average elevation of the Galactic Center.
All times are shown in the local time of the selected location.
2. Credits and purchases
This platform works with a credit system. Each credit allows you to generate one custom Milky Way calendar.
Credits may be purchased individually or in bundles, depending on the options available on the website at the time of purchase.
Once a credit has been used to generate a calendar, that credit is considered redeemed and cannot be reused.
Prices may change at any time without prior notice. The price shown at checkout at the time of purchase is the final price for that transaction.
3. User responsibility for correct inputs
You are responsible for entering accurate information before generating your calendar.
This includes the correct:
- Year
- Location name
- Latitude and longitude
- Coordinate format
Coordinates must be entered in decimal degrees, with latitude first and longitude second. A period must be used for decimals, and a comma must separate latitude and longitude.
Example:
36.2350298733245, -116.77082298179006
A negative latitude refers to the Southern Hemisphere. A negative longitude refers to the Western Hemisphere.
If you enter incorrect coordinates, an incorrect year, an unsupported location, or coordinates in the wrong format, the resulting calendar may be inaccurate or unusable. In these cases, a new purchase or credit will be required to generate a new calendar.
No refunds will be issued for calendars generated with incorrect information provided by the user.
4. Calendar generation
After submitting your request, your custom calendar may take up to 5 minutes to generate.
In some cases, generation may take longer due to technical issues, server load, payment processing delays, or other circumstances beyond our control.
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure the platform works properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, instant, or error free access to the service at all times.
5. Calendar availability and downloads
Once generated, your custom calendar will be available in your account for download for one year from the generation date.
After this one year period, the calendar may no longer be available in your account, and a new purchase may be required to access or generate it again.
We strongly recommend downloading and saving your calendar locally after generation.
We only store calendars for current and future years. Past year calendars may not remain available on our servers.
6. Saturdays only format
Custom Milky Way Calendars show data for Saturdays only.
This format is designed to keep the calendar clear, easy to read, and printable. Nearby days usually have similar Milky Way and moon conditions, but the calendar does not provide daily data for every date of the year.
By purchasing and using this service, you acknowledge that the calendar is a planning tool and that it does not include every day of the selected year.
7. Unsupported regions
Polar regions above 66.5° North latitude or below 66.5° South latitude are not supported.
If you submit coordinates outside the supported latitude range, the service may not be able to generate a valid calendar.
No refunds will be issued for calendars requested for unsupported locations if the user entered coordinates outside the supported range.
8. Accuracy and limitations
Milky Way Calendars are designed to provide accurate planning information based on the coordinates and year submitted by the user.
However, the calendars are provided as a planning tool only. Actual shooting conditions may vary due to factors including, but not limited to:
- Weather
- Clouds
- Smoke
- Haze
- Light pollution
- Terrain obstruction
- Mountains or buildings blocking the horizon
- Local access restrictions
- Temporary closures
- Safety conditions
The calendar does not guarantee that the Milky Way will be visible in practice, that the sky will be clear, or that a specific composition will be possible from the selected location.
Users are responsible for verifying local conditions, safety, accessibility, weather, and any permits or restrictions before going into the field.
9. Digital product policy
Milky Way Calendars are digital products.
Due to the nature of digital products and automated calendar generation, all sales are final.
Refunds will not be issued for:
- Incorrect coordinates entered by the user
- Incorrect year selected by the user
- Incorrect location name entered by the user
